About Us
Meet Capt. Keith
Capt Keith developed a love and passion for fishing at an early age through the introduction to the sport by his father. From the first time he set the hook on a fish it was decided that there would be no other path for him to follow than to develop and share his fishing skills with others. After graduating Stonybrook University with a degree in Environmental Studies with concentrations in Marine Biology and Fisheries Biology, Keith decided to take a summer to experience Alaska as a deckhand and there was no turning back! Over the next 11 years He spent over 1300 days on the water learning Prince William Sound and how to target all of its incredible and delicious Fish species so that he could provide people with a fun, memorable, and successful experience on PWS.
On July 27, 2023 Capt Keith set the State record for the Largest Rockfish caught on Rod and reel, certified by ADFG, with a 42.4 pound Shortraker(S. Borealis) rockfish. After taking hundreds of people fishing to target this species on charters it was hands down the most fulfilling achievement of his career to be able to haul in the Behemoth on his own rod and reel.
Keith founded the Borealis Custom Fishing Experience to get back on the water and remind people that fishing out of Whittier on PWS is about more than just filling freezers and catching limits, it is about BEING on the water with Family and Friends and enjoying the WHOLE EXPERIENCE. So we welcome you to come out and see us to make lasting memories of your own!!
MEET The Vessel M/V BOREALIS
The Borealis is a 34' CHB North Pacific Trawler, designed for families and small groups to travel efficiently and comfortably through Coastal Waterways. It's 12' beam and 6' Draft make this vessel extremely stable in seas that would other wise keep smaller vessel at the dock.
The covered back deck allows for excellent protection from the elements(both sun and rain) so fishing can be comfortable and enjoyable no matter the conditions. Borealis is a full walk-around and has Scotty Electric Reel Plug ins both on the bow and back deck for assistance with the deep waters that Capt. Keith targets regularly.
The Flybridge is another incredible amenity that customers can enjoy both while underway and while stationary. it is fully enclosed with an Isinglass covered Bimini top and has heating ports to keep you warm and dry while taking in the stunning 360 degree view
Main Cabin
The wood-trimmed Interior of the Borealis is sure to keep the members of your group and yourself feeling At Home the whole time we are away from the dock. From the comfortable seating at the Galley table or the Starboard Bench to the beds they both fold down into, nobodies backs while be sore after a trip.
The appliances aboard will eliminate the need for coolers and jet boils, while you have an available refrigerator, freezer, stovetop, grill, and freshwater sink at your disposal!
